Hope Ministry
“I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.”
Matthew 25:43
Our church is currently involved in Prison ministry work at Her Majesty’s Prison’s since the ministry began. We feel that it is vital to minister to those men who are forgetting by our community. This work involves conducting Sunday services, as well as visits at Christmas and other special occasions. Our team consists of six to eight members working in conjunction with the excellent chaplaincy teams. To support those who have loved ones in custody we also have a ‘Diamond Initiative’ support group where they can find peace, legal support and prayer.
Under the ‘Hopes Ministry’ we also have a hospital ministry which goes into our local hospitals to provide a lending ear and someone to talk to, encouraging them that they are not alone.
The Bible also teaches us to care for widows & the orphans. It is the responsibility of all of God’s children to care for those who are in need. DICM’s focus is to fulfil this requirement where possible by giving support to those who are in need, whether it is financial support, visiting people in their homes to give them an encouraging word or by counselling or mentoring them.
Our Pastor believes this area of the ministry is taken seriously and to remember “we are indeed our brother’s keeper”. So come and help us share God’s love.
